Bronny James has faced setback after setback ever since he began his journey as a college basketball player with the USC Trojans. From getting his phone hacked to getting a cardiac arrest during training, it was a rollercoaster ride. To top it all, NBA fans have not been particularly kind or welcoming.

But that has not stopped the Los Angeles Lakers’ G-League athlete from slowly and steadily working on his game and building towards the kind of player he wants to become. Last season, he averaged 21.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, while making 3.2 three-pointers per game at a shooting percentage of 38% from the three.

Chris Brickley, one of the most famous basketball trainers in the world, recently appeared on the Breakfast Club and shed light on James’ game as well as the kind of response the fans have given.

“It’s f****d up because at the end of the day, he didn’t choose to be LeBron’s son. He’s literally like a great kid, and you can tell that it’s a sore spot for the family. I wouldn’t want someone to mess with my kid, none of you guys would, but Bronny’s actually really good. He’s gonna peak in a year or two.” Brickley said when asked what he thinks about the criticism faced by the young shooting guard.

He was also asked about James’ improvement and whether the former Trojan should be in the league.

“For sure, for sure, because people don’t understand that before his freshman year, he had the heart stuff. I think he had a seizure or he passed out, something major. So he couldn’t play half the season. So yeah, he’s an NBA player,” added Brickley.

The former New York Knicks Director of Player Personnel has worked with James’ father, LeBron James, among many other stars. Brickley recalled his first meeting with the legendary athlete and how he thinks that James’ longevity and his scoring prowess make him the greatest player of all time.

NBA Trainer Recalls Nerve-Wracking Moment With LeBron James

Brickley first explained how he had a nerve-wracking experience helping James with his basketball game. Even legendary players have areas of improvement, and the 39-year-old trainer is known for fixing those issues with the best basketball players in the world. But when you’re working with your ‘GOAT’, it hits different.

“He’s the GOAT, so you’re right. So it’s like he can get better at things. Great players always have some flaws in their game. Once we started working, Bron was like, ‘Alright, I want you to watch film tonight, come over to the workout tomorrow, and tell me two things that I need to get better at. So this is like nerve-wracking, but yeah, I gave him two things and he liked it,” Brickley recalled the start of his working relationship with the Lakers’ superstar.

Brickley has also worked with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Carmelo Anthony, Joel Embiid, Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, Jaylen Brown, Devin Booker, Trae YoungRussell Westbrook, and other top-tier basketball talent in the country.
