When the Golden State Warriors had Kevin Durant, they were an unstoppable juggernaut. The team was filled with superstars and were the runaway favorites to win the NBA championship each year. They did so twice in a row, and fell just short of completing a three-peat after injuries gutted them against the Toronto Raptors in 2019. But that version of the dynasty ended when Kevin Durant decided to leave the team.

Kevin Durant came to the Brooklyn Nets in 2019, deciding to team up with Kyrie Irving. The franchise then also traded for James Harden after a season, with many thinking that an NBA title was secured with a Big 3 like that. However, injuries, controversies, and tension meant that James Harden demanded a trade and left in a year. Kevin Durant himself wanted to leave in the offseason, and now Kyrie Irving has asked to be traded midseason

All things considered, for a team with so much talent to not even have made it to the NBA Finals is embarrassing. This season seems like it will be no better for them either, with the Nets reportedly motivated to moving on from Irving. And the man caught in the crosshairs once again is Kevin Durant, seeing his championship hopes crumble in front of his eyes.

Jalen Rose Says Kevin Durant Leaving The Warriors Will Be A Huge Regret For Him

While the Warriors had their own struggles after Kevin Durant’s departure, they rallied back and won a championship in 2022. Stephen Curry’s greatness is on a different level to Irving’s and there is no doubt that if Durant had re-signed, he would have more championships to his name. And Jalen Rose thinks that this is why it will remain a huge regret for the Slim Reaper.

“He probably won’t say this today, but as he looks back at his career and when you look back at your playing days, you always think about ‘What Ifs,’ He gonna regret leaving the Warriors. That was a tailor made situation.”

It’s hard to imagine that Durant is very happy about the way things have gone during his time with the Nets. While it’s true that he received a lot of hate for joining and being on the Warriors, at least he was winning championships. It’s evident to most people that he shouldn’t have left, at least not to team up with Kyrie Irving, and now his future seems like a complicated situation moving forward.
