When James Harden forced a trade out of Houston last season, it shocked the entire world. After weeks of distress, Harden decided to take his talents to Brooklyn and form a super team with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Harden and the Nets failed to win the NBA title last season due to their superstars not being at 100%. But this season, they are at their full strength and are the favorites to win it all.
The Beard will play a vital role this season as the main playmaker for the team. Speaking of Harden, according to Jordan Shultz, the 31-year-old has parted ways with his current sports agents.
"James Harden, per sources, is cutting ties with Jason Ranne and Chafie Fields of Wasserman - whom he hired to help facilitate his trade from the Rockets to the Nets. Harden’s new representation will be long time friend Lorenzo McCloud, along w/the NBPA"
As Schultz mentioned, the two sports agents played a crucial role in getting Harden to Brooklyn. However, Harden now wants his longtime friend Lorenzo McCloud to be his agent. The move might have been made while keeping in mind that he will soon sit down with the Brooklyn Nets for a contract extension.
Currently, Harden's contract locks him in with the Nets for the 2022-23 NBA season. But, he can still check other options as his contract includes a player option after the 2021-22 NBA season.
Although it's unlikely that the Beard would opt out of his contract, it doesn't hurt to have all options on the table, right?
The Nets have already managed to convince Kevin Durant to stay committed to the team for the long term. KD signed a 4-year extension with the team earlier this month. Now they have to do something similar with Harden and Irving.
If the Big 3 parts ways, it would mean, the Nets could enter into a sudden rebuild mode. Hopefully, the Beard and his new agent can figure out a deal soon, so fans can enjoy seeing three of the best players of this generation play amazing basketball together.
