Jayson Tatum made yet another All-Star appearance last season, averaging 26.4 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 4.3 APG in the process. Tatum is already one of the best young players in the league, and he could possibly get even better in the future.

It’s clear that Jayson Tatum’s development will be key to the Boston Celtics becoming a contender. Many people would agree that Jayson Tatum is already an All-NBA level player, but few would state that he is a bonafide superstar.

While he isn’t yet a superstar-level player currently, Jayson Tatum can certainly get there. It seems as though he has set that goal for himself as well. A recent article by Marc Spears of The Undefeated has revealed that Tatum has aspirations of becoming a top-5 player. It seems as though Tatum believes that helping his teammates become better will be crucial to doing so.

I just got to be better. I have to elevate my level from being one of the top 10 to 15 players to a top-5 player. I have to try to make everyone else around me better,

There’s definitely a lot of untapped potential left in Jayson Tatum. A lot of people have compared Tatum’s game to an all-time great in Kobe Bryant. The two definitely have similar traits, such as their prolific scoring in isolation and their athleticism. Some have even claimed that Jayson Tatum’s game will eventually be on Kobe Bryant’s level. Jayson Tatum isn’t as accomplished as Bryant yet, but he’s been able to take the Celtics on multiple deep playoff runs already, and that definitely gives hope for the future.

Jayson Tatum’s co-star, Jaylen Brown once stated that Jayson Tatum is destined for greatness. A lot of people would agree, and Tatum definitely seems like a player that wants to put in the work to be great. Hopefully, we see a top-5 player version of Jayson Tatum become a reality, and it’s possible that will happen during the 2021-22 season.
