LeBron James’ individual performance has been one of the only positive aspects of the Los Angeles Lakers’ season this year. There’s no doubt that the superstar has been playing at a high level for the team this year, and he is currently averaging 27.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 6.6. APG.

There is no doubt that LeBron James is in an unfortunate basketball situation with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, it seems as though some believe that LeBron James deserves some blame for their current struggles. Recently, Jeff Van Gundy pointed out that LeBron James had a “large part” in creating this current roster but noted that he’s in a “hard position.”

The numbers are going to be there. But when you get to that level, it’s about how much can you drive winning. The Lakers have not been good the last couple of years. It may not be his fault. But it is his responsibility. That’s how you’re judged. You set this incredible standard. He’s still playing individually well more so on offense than on defense. But they’re just not very good. He’s a part of that. He had a large part with who’s on the roster. It’s a hard position.

It is clear that LeBron James did have some input on the moves that the Los Angeles Lakers made. However, ultimately, it was up to the front office to decide whether those moves were suitable for the team. A bit of the blame should fall on everyone in this scenario.

LeBron James Wanted Russell Westbrook, But Rob Pelinka Wanted Buddy Hield

The Los Angeles Lakers’ infamous move for Russell Westbrook is a large reason the team is in the position it is right now. LeBron James was one of the people pushing for that deal, even though Rob Pelinka preferred to get a better-fitting player in Buddy Hield.

“Rob Pelinka wanted to and planned to trade for Buddy Hield but James & Davis encouraged him to go after Westbrook.”

There is no doubt that the Russell Westbrook move may have been the worst trade for the Los Angeles Lakers in recent memory. Though the point guard is playing better off the bench as of right now, it is clear that the Los Angeles Lakers simply gave up too much to get him.

Hopefully, we see the Los Angeles Lakers figure out a way to create a better roster going forward. They need to be active in trade talks this year, with the team notably being linked with Zach LaVine, who wants to play for the franchise. We’ll see what moves they make in the future, and hopefully, they can make the playoffs this year.
