Jeff Van Gundy Takes Shot At Devin Booker Asking For Calls: “I Want The Ref To Snap Back At Him And Say, ‘How About Make A Shot Or How About Guard Your Man Metter?'”

Devin Booker wasn’t happy with the referees on Sunday night. Jeff Van Gundy wasn’t pleased with Booker complaining about what team got more foul calls during Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

The talented shooting guard didn’t have the best night at the free-throw line, either, so it wasn’t like the officials were to blame after the Phoenix Suns lost 120-100 to the Milwaukee Bucks.

While Book yelled at the refs for not getting calls, the former head coach had a big message to him. Instead of venting his frustrations to the officials, JVG said he needed to do a better job at the line and on defense.

“We don’t want ’em(calls) right now, James,” Booker yelled at one official.

“I want the ref to snap back at him and say, ‘how about make a shot or how about guard your man better?'” Van Gundy said after watching that sequence.

Devin finished the night shooting 3-5 from the line and 3-14 from the field, enough to get 10 points. It’s not like he didn’t have many chances to make a difference, but it wasn’t his night.

After the game, though, Monty Williams also showed his unhappiness with how the match was officiated. Specifically, he didn’t like that Giannis Antetokounmpo had more free throws than Booker, Chris Paul, and the rest of the Suns.

“I’m not going to get into publicly complaining about fouls, but we had 16 free throws tonight. One guy [on the Bucks] had 17.”

They can’t change anything now that the game is over. It’s time to make adjustments and try to make those shots in Game 4 to take a 3-1 lead. Giannis and co. demonstrated they’re not done yet, and the Suns will have to work hard to beat this team.
