Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets are on an absolute roll right now. As winners of 8 straight games, they have climbed to 4th place in the East with a 21-12 record overall.

While the Nets’ rise has been a group effort, Kevin Durant has been the one leading the way for the crew, and his play this season is right up there with some of the best stretches of his career.

Of course, Durant’s recent success doesn’t mean he has lost his appetite for social media. In fact, the former MVP has been especially active lately, doing his usual thing and arguing with the fans like he (for some reason) loves to do.

In a video for the Boardroom this weekend, Durant even crowned himself as the ultimate Twitter user.

“Who’s the Mt. Rushmore of NBA Twitter?”

Obviously, there are going to be a lot of people who disagree with Durant’s Mt. Rushmore of NBA Twitter, but I don’t think he was giving a straight answer anyway. In typical KD fashion, he was actually using the opportunity to take another shot at his Twitter haters by denying them a place on the list.

But it still begs the question: why does Durant care about what the fans on Twitter say anyway?

Kevin Durant’s Twitter Activity Is A Way For Him To Interact With The Fans

No matter your feelings on Durant or his approach to social media naysayers, his Twitter antics give fans a unique opportunity to experience Durant on a more personal level, and he’s not lost on the value that holds.

Off the court, Kevin Durant is often spotted using social media, with him frequently posting on Twitter. Though Durant has often been criticized for him roasting fans on the app, he once noted that players should be encouraged to have interactions with the NBA fanbase on social media.

“I don’t see a problem with me interacting with basketball fans,” Durant said. “It should be encouraged… Steve should’ve also said that I’m never late and I work through every rep in practice with game speed. That should be more interesting than what I do on Twitter.”

It’s pretty clear that, when it comes to the Mt. Rushmore of NBA Twitter, Kevin Durant has to be among the faces. Beyond that, it’s all a matter of opinion.

But considering how active and loud Durant is in the Twitter world, it’s fair to say that he’s got a pretty large degree of influence on the community that resides there.
