Kevin Durant Wants NBA 2K To Boost His Rating: “I Think I Should Be A 99.”

ATHLETES CREATIVE TRAP

As one of the best players in the game and, arguably, all of NBA history, Kevin Durant is a pretty powerful guy in the world of sports.

He’s got a huge following, tons of fans, and a lot of pull about various NBA-related topics.

So when the guy delivered a message directly to 2K sports, the whole world listened. Hours ago, on camera, the Nets superstar made a plea demanding his rating be bumped to the max.

Here’s the video:

“I think my rating should be a 99 on 2K. I work extremely hard, I hit big shots from all over the floor, I’m a solid passer — I think I’m a great passer — great rebounder. I pretty much do everything great. That’s why I should be a 99.”

Say what you want about KD, but his words were pretty spot-on. As a multi-faceted, inside/outside scorer, his specialty is putting the ball in the hoop, and he’s awfully good at it.

It does not mean, however, that it’s his only attribute on the floor. He does a little bit of everything, as he has demonstrated time and time again.

Of course, Durant’s greatness has been noticed by others as well. Gilbert Arenas, for example, went so far as to call the 2x Champion the greatest scorer ever.

“As a basketball fan who understands the game, the way Kevin Durant scores is really effortless. He can’t actually be stopped, controlled, or challenged because of his height, his shooting. So, he is probably……. the easiest bucket getter in NBA history.

So, it is Kevin Durant um…, in my opinion and I’m a Jordan fanatic.”

So, there’s no denying the greatness of Kevin Durant. That much is clear.

What is not so clear, though, is whether or not 2K should up his rating to 99. Currently, KD has a 96-overall rating with a whopping 43 badges to his name. That rating is tied for the third-best in the entire game (among active players) and only surpassed by LeBron James and Steph Curry, who are both 97.

The thing about 99 overall ratings is that they’re extremely rare. The only players to ever reach the mark in the last 15 years are LeBron James, Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett. There hasn’t been a 99 rating for an active player since 2K14.

So, should Durant be added to that exclusive club? After the performance he put on during the 2021 playoffs, it’s hard to say no.

But, ultimately, it’s not my decision to make. The 2K game developers have to make that choice for themselves.
