This analyst doesn't believe Tyrese Haliburton should be an All-Star.

Tyrese Haliburton is one of the best young players in the game today, and he is a pass-first point guard who is also an elite shooter. Currently, Tyrese Haliburton is averaging 19.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 10.7 APG for the Indiana Pacers while shooting 38.5% from beyond the arc.

The Indiana Pacers recently lost against the New York Knicks, and Tyrese Haliburton struggled from a shooting standpoint, only shooting 5-16 from the field for 15 points. After the game, Knicks analyst Wally Szczerbiak went at Tyrese Haliburton, claiming that he was a “wannabe All-Star,” adding that Julius Randle or Jalen Brunson was likely to go in over him.

Mr. supposed wanna be fake All-Star with the big miss. The rebound by Randle, and then Randle iced the game with all the free throws. Last chance down 3 for the wannabe All-Star, let me keep it that way.

He is in his second year, he’s a very good player, he’s not going to make the All-Star game. A guy like Julius Randle or Jalen Brunson will make it over Tyrese Haliburton. Tonight we saw why.

Tyrese Haliburton is putting up All-Star-level numbers, but it is clear that Wally Szczerbiak isn’t high on him. Most people would say that Tyrese Haliburton is overall better than both Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, but it is clear that he got outplayed that evening. Only time will tell which of those players will make the All-Star game. The New York Knicks are currently the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 17-13 record, so it is likely that they will get an All-Star due to them being a playoff team.

Hopefully, though, we see Tyrese Haliburton prove Wally Szczerbiak wrong. He is definitely an All-Star level player in the mold of someone like Chris Paul, and if he manages to lead the Indiana Pacers to more wins, he could definitely be in the All-Star game this year.

Tyrese Haliburton Wants To Be An All-Star This Year

Previously, Tyrese Haliburton revealed that his two goals for this season were to become a “20-and-10 guy” and make the All-Star team. He is currently very close to achieving the first goal, and there is obviously a chance that he could make the All-Sta team.

“I want to be a 20-and-10 guy and I want to be an All-Star,” Haliburton said. “Those are two personal goals for me that, I think, are attainable. I definitely think [I can accomplish that], for sure. I think I had that ability last year, and there was a span where I was doing that, so I think that naturally, I just have that ability. But now it’s just making that shift mentality-wise. I truthfully think 8, 9, 10 assists, that just happens for me playing basketball. I feel like I’m just a facilitator by nature, like, that just happens.

The Indiana Pacers clearly got an amazing player by trading Domantas Sabonis last season, and Tyrese Halliburton is currently the face of the franchise. Hopefully, he develops into a perennial All-Star player that can lead the franchise to greatness.

Many expected the Indiana Pacers to bottom out this season, but the franchise is still competing for a play-in tournament spot as of right now. Hopefully, we see them get to the postseason this year, and we’ll see how well the Pacers fare over the rest of the season.
