Kyrie Irving is getting ready for his 12th season in the NBA, and it promises to be one filled with drama, just like the last few have been. Irving is a phenomenal talent that has never been in question, but his antics over these last couple of years have really soured his image.

A look at his numbers from last season shows that Kyrie averaged career-highs when it came to points per game and three-point shooting %, but all that anyone talks about is what went wrong. He only played 29 games as the vaccine mandate in New York didn’t allow him, an unvaccinated individual, to play at home, and it proved to be a massive distraction for the team. The season ended terribly as well, of course, as they were swept out of the first round by the Celtics, which just added to the negativity surrounding the team and Irving himself.

The two parties then failed to agree on a long-term extension for the star guard, which means that his future remains up in the air. With all this drama and uncertainty, all eyes are on Irving, and his daughter told him as much too.

“My Princess told me, don’t you mess around this year Daddy, everyone will be watching.

Everyone will be watching him, and if there is someone who isn’t, they’ll eventually be drawn in, too, once Irving says something outrageous, something he tends to do quite often.

He recently shared a video from conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, which drew a lot of criticism, and he also called the vaccine mandate one of the biggest human rights violations in history. The great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has just about had enough of Kyrie’s nonsense at this point and blasted him recently on his substack. As Kareem points out, Irving is someone who a lot of people look up to, and they’ll be influenced by what he is saying, which is dangerous.

Kyrie doesn’t care about any of it, of course, and Kareem’s criticism is not going to affect him in any way. What will affect him, though, is that it doesn’t look like there is any interest around the league in his services. The Lakers, who were the only team interested in him in the offseason, no longer have him in their long-term plans, and you do wonder who would be willing to take on this headache next year if even the Lakers have decided to stay away.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
