In Los Angeles, the Purple and Gold are doing their best to move on after a summer of chaos.

With Russell Westbrook still on the team, there are plenty of people who doubt what the Lakers can do.

But for Lakers coach Davin Ham, he has been impressed by his team’s showing in training camp so far. In fact, in regards to LeBron James specifically, the enthusiastic coach has been blown away.

Darvin Ham Says LeBron James Has Been Killing It In Lakers Training Camp

In a chat with reporters on Wednesday, Ham gave some of his initial thoughts of training camp so far and made a few notable comments about LeBron.

Some Ham early observations:

– “LeBron is not from this planet, that’s for damn sure.

– “AD’s ability to pass.”

– “Russ, the open spacing … (the opponent) not being able to build a wall, him exploding into the paint.”

– “LeBron’s ability to defensive rebound and bring it.”

Fans should take this tweet with a grain of salt. Similarly, positive words were said last year before the Lakers endured a nightmarish season.

This time, however, there is a sense that things are different. Anthony Davis is healthy again, LeBron James is smiling, and Russell Westbrook seems ready to start this campaign with an open mind.

It remains to be seen how Russ will play, but there are those who think better days are ahead.

“I definitely believe that if Russell Westbrook ends up staying in Los Angeles, as opposed to say, somewhere like Indiana for Myles Turner or Buddy Hield, a couple of picks, which to me is still possible,” said Stephen A. Smith. “I know they haven’t offered it, or anything like that, but if that offer comes down the pike, I think you’ll see the Lakers take that offer. If that doesn’t happen and he ends up staying a Los Angeles Laker, I definitely believe this season will be better than the last. I don’t believe that Russell Westbrook will ever be this bad again.”

Needless to say, the Lakers will need more from Russ this season if they want to live up in the standings.

As for LeBron, we already know what he can do. Despite being almost 40, with 20 years of experience in the league, LeBron is still just as good as ever and is capable of lifting the Lakers to great heights in the West.

Darvin Ham, who is in the driver’s seat for Vogel, certainly has his faith in the right people.
