The Los Angeles Lakers’ Big 3 of LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Anthony Davis didn’t win a championship as planned. Instead, the Lakers missed the playoffs, despite the three stars that were present on their roster. Obviously, some of that is due to factors such as injuries, but it is clear that the 2021-22 season was a disappointing one for the franchise.
Even though there were times when the trio looked as if they were a poor fit with one another, perhaps they could do better next season. It seems as though the trio is committed to trying to make things work. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports has recently revealed that LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook had a phone call where they expressed “their commitment to one another”, and vowed “to make it work” on the Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook huddled up on a phone conversation the first weekend of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with each expressing their commitment to one another and vowing to make it work, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
While the uncertainty of Westbrook’s future with the Lakers remains, the conversation was organized to make sure all three were on the same page as long as they’re joined together in their pursuit of a championship, sources said.
Westbrook has never requested a trade from the Lakers, sources said.
It remains to be seen if the trio will figure out a way to coexist on the court. Russell Westbrook has notably been part of many trade rumors in recent memory, and many believe that he will be traded for Nets star Kyrie Irving.
Hopefully, though, we will see LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook figure things out next season. They are all extremely talented players, and perhaps we’ll see them lead the Los Angeles Lakers back to the playoffs next year.
