Michael Jordan Once Hosted Saturday Night Live And Showed An Example Of The Commercials He Didn’t Want To Participate In: “It’s Not Really Pornographic Unless It Says Michael Jordan.

After winning the first NBA Championship of his career, Michael Jordan arrived in New York City and hosted an episode of the Saturday Night Live show.

In the 1980s, Michael Jordan started to rise to stardom, but it wasn’t until the 1990s that MJ started to become an icon. Of course, winning six NBA Championships played a huge role in increasing his popularity around the world.

The Bulls superstar helped the NBA in becoming popular outside of the United States. As we mentioned earlier, his true journey started in 1991 when he won the first NBA Championship of his career.

Following that, Mike started landing more commercials than ever and even made an appearance on the Saturday Night Live show. But he wasn’t a guest. Instead, he hosted one episode of the long-running show.

Michael Jordan Hosting SNL Was Incredibly Memorable

Right off the bat, MJ started the episode with an epic monologue. The topic of his monologue was around the Bulls superstar doing each and every commercial which was offered to him.

But MJ proved that wasn’t true by showing clips of fabricated commercials that even he didn’t accept. One of the commercials included Jordan hilariously trying to sell porn.

“So when you want hardcore pornographic videos, remember this label because it’s not really pornographic unless it says Michael Jordan.”

That section was arguably the best of the entire episode, and to this day, fans love it. But apart from the great monologue, Jordan also appeared in a bunch of skits. For example, the Daily Affirmation skit where MJ was constantly being emotionally supported by Stuart Smalley.

The Saturday Night Live show is full of such small yet hilarious skits. Another one was Bob Swerski’s Super Fans. Obviously, in this episode, Swerski and co. were crazy fans of the Chicago Bulls. They went as far as saying the Bulls would complete an 8-peat in the future.

Keeping everything in mind for basketball fans, this was unarguably one of the best episodes of SNL.

It’s not every day you get to see Michael Jordan taking the role of a host of a TV show. And for what it’s worth, Mike was surprisingly good at acting. Fans loved his part in the skits even more because of that.
