MMA Star Colby Covington Roasts LeBron James: “You’re A Chinese Finger Puppet!”

2 Min Read

Over the past few years, LeBron James has been pretty active in voicing his opinion about the political and social landscape in America. Of course, his criticisms of former U.S. President Donald Trump were among the loudest in the sports world.

Recently, the topic of James’ involvement in political life has been a huge talking point, to the point where Bron himself had to defend himself.

It didn’t take long for MMA star Colby Covington to get involved. In an angry Twitter rant, he blasted James for his hypocrisy, calling him out for speaking on U.S. issues while staying silent about the problems in China.

“When are you gonna speak up about Hong Kong LeBron James? Oh that’s right, you can’t. You’re a Chinese finger puppet! You make millions playing a kids game & talk about ‘social justice’ but have no problem paying Chinese women in sweatshops pennies to make your products. Slimeball.”

Covington is calling back to the Hong Kong controversy back in the fall of 2019. After then-Rockets GM Daryl Morey tweeted out a post in support of the protesters, LeBron refused to get involved, choosing instead to say something very similar to what Covington is saying now.

Needless to say, it paints a contradictory picture, and not everyone is shy about calling LeBron out on it.
