The year 2023 just started and the NBA is already giving us big emotions. The All-Star Game will take place in Salt Lake City this year, with the Utah Jazz trying to get one of their players in the big game.

The NBA decided to change the voting rules for this season, drifting away from social media and only letting fans vote for their favorite players through the league’s official app. That’s how we landed here, where the first voting return was revealed.

As usual, the two players who once fought for the title of the best baller in the world rank first in their respective conferences. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets lead their respective conferences in votes. The King surpasses Durant by a small margin, getting 3,168,694 votes against the 3,118,545 Durant received.

NBA Fans Have Big Complains About The First 2023 All-Star Game Voting Return

LeBron surpasses Nikola Jokic on the frontcourt list, as the Serbian player has gotten 2,237,768 votes. Anthony Davis (2.0 million), Zion Williamson (1.8 million), and Andrew Wiggins (1.1 million) complete the top 5 in the West. As for the East, Durant tops Giannis Antetokounmpo (2.9 million), Joel Embiid (2.2 million), Jayson Tatum (2.1 million), and Jimmy Butler (477K), close the top 5 in the East.

Many fans had something to say about this situation, with some criticizing the voters, asking for certain players to show up on this list, and others even urging the league to delete the fan vote.

bro what are these votes. HOW IS ANDREW WIGGINS RIGHT BEHIND ZION. revoke the fan vote

Stop with the fan voting. No way AD should be top 3 and no way Reeves and Russ should be on here at all

— Aidan (@_aidanwatts_) January 5, 2023

Knicks fans we gotta do better. Derrick Rose getting more votes than Randle and Brunson is ridiculous

— TJ (@QJonesNYC) January 5, 2023

So far starters would be

West: Curry, Doncic, LeBron, Davis, Jokic

East: Kyrie, D-Mitch, Durant, Giannis, Embiid

W-Reserves: Morant, Shai, Wiggins, PG, Zion, Klay, Lauri.

E-Reserves: Harden, Brown, Butler, Tatum, Siakam, Melo, Haliburton

Yet again, hard working players who deserve a nod will not be voted in by fans do to the fact they are not in big markets and don’t get the national spotlight.

— Herk (@RIPPEY720) January 5, 2023

Tatum not at least #4 in voting is a crime.

— OniiPro (@OniiPro) January 5, 2023

LeBron and Kevin as Team Captains again

— SMOOOTH👑 (@TripleOSmoooth) January 5, 2023

Eliminate the fan vote. It should strictly be determined by players and coaches.

— Chad Crawford (@ItsCrawdaddy) January 5, 2023

This will be the worst game in years!

— Sergey Mak (@SergeyMak8) January 5, 2023

No Herro, No Bam, No Fox, No Sabonis but claxton and Austin reeves are here?! It’s so clear how many fans are casuals.

— EverythingKnicks (@EverythinKnicks) January 5, 2023

I love that Austin Reaves is on this list. Well deserved.

Every time we’re getting closer to the All-Star Game and the league reveals the numbers for every player, a lot of fans go crazy about it. This time wasn’t the exception, and many expect the association to do something different, so this doesn’t happen again next season.

Then again, it seems like no fan is happy to see this, and no matter what changes every season, they will complain about anything. With the first results of the fan voting, it seems like LeBron James and Kevin Durant will be captains of their teams once again, and this could be a big opportunity for KD to end LeBron’s unbeaten run in the All-Star Game.
