The Boston Celtics managed to score just 82 points in their loss against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, failing to score more than 23 points in any of the 4 quarters.
This came on the back of a terrible shooting display, with the entire team going 4-42 from beyond the three-point line. The Celtics shot just 9.5%, a showing that will likely always result in a loss no matter the opposition.
The main culprit was Jaylen Brown, who managed to score 30 points, but did so on terrible efficiency, making just 13 of his 36 field goal attempts. Brown went 1-13 from 3 too, which is almost hard to believe.
Al Horford tried 7 threes and made none, while Payton Pritchard and Josh Richardson both attempted 5 and again, made none. The only Celtics to make any shots from distance apart from Brown were Grant Williams who hit 2 of his 3 attempts and Sam Hauser, who hit 1 out of 3.
NBA fans were quick to make fun of the Celtics, with Reddit blowing up after the remarkably poor shooting display. Here's a look at some of the best comments.
Agitated Phrase: "One of the worst shooting displays I've ever seen. Everyone outside of Grant was 2/38 from 3."
Snark-Weak: "I can't even imagine what it feels like to root for a team having such a historically abysmal night from beyond the arc."
nbafanboy1989: "You would just assume it would be near impossible for pros to shoot that poorly lol."
MarcusSmartsGrit: "Worst Celtics team to watch in a while."
iwillbombu: "As a Raps fan I love this so much. I can't imagine the joy and catharsis as a Nets fan after they were such huge dicks for years towards y'all."
CallmePimpDaddy: "Remember when Celtics fans convinced themselves Brad Stevens is more valuable than LeBron?"
Mrmdn333: "Might I interest Celtics fans in one Ben Simmons? He will never negatively (or positively) impact their three point percentage."
NitroXYZ: "Bruh 4/42?!!??? I need to wash my eyes out."
scarxxd: "Brown was like 1-5 and kept shooting till he went 1-13."
ObviousParsley323338: "I was trying to sleep on my couch when I was awoken by the sound of gunshots. When I checked it turned out to just be the sound of the Celtics bricks hitting the rim. Keep it down guys!"
The Celtics face the 27-7 Phoenix Suns next and will need to find their 3-point shot quickly, if they don't want to drop out of the play-in spots in the Eastern Conference.
