NBA Insider Says The Miami Heat Are Very Interested In Donovan Mitchell, Could Send Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, And Future Picks

Ever since the Jazz traded away Rudy Gobert, there has been speculation on how it would impact the future of Donovan Mitchell. While a breakup of Utah’s two biggest stars in recent time was inevitable, the Jazz mainly just got back a massive haul of draft picks and some role players, which led many to believe a rebuild is on the cards.

Initial reports indicated that the Jazz were firm on their stance of keeping Mitchell and building around him, but since then, it has emerged that they would be open to moving him as well. Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Jazz were dismissing calls earlier, but they are willing to listen to offers now. Ira Winderman then stated that the Heat have made their interest clear in Mitchell as per a Western Conference scout and that a deal mainly centered around Tyler Herro is what could be on the cards.

Spoke to a Western Conference scout today here in Vegas about Donovan Mitchell. He said he has heard Heat have made interest clear. The long-time scout said he would move Herro in such a deal. (Robinson, picks likely also would have to go out.)

The Heat were in the running for Kevin Durant, but a package mainly centered around Herro was never going to be enough to get KD. Mitchell is nowhere near Durant as a player and would command a significantly lower haul in return. Utah might go for it based on how many picks Miami would offer along with these players.

He would be a great addition to the Heat if they manage to pull this off, as it would give them another elite scorer alongside Jimmy Butler. Their offense in this past postseason really stagnated when Butler struggled with injuries, and Mitchell can definitely help with that. Despite his flaws, Donovan averages over 28 points per game in the postseason and will give the Heat the firepower that they lack.

Heat legend and part-owner of the Jazz Dwyane Wade responded to a fan asking him if he is bringing Mitchell to Miami with a “yeah”, and while we won’t look too much into that, it is becoming a growing possibility that Donovan could end up in South Beach.
