Kevin Durant has made a huge splash today after he requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, exactly three years after he and Kyrie Irving agreed to team up at Barclays Center. Nothing went the way they wanted to, as the Nets only made it as far as the Eastern Conference Finals last season, where the eventual champions Milwaukee Bucks defeated them.

This past season was full of controversy for them, with Kyrie refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine and James Harden forcing a trade. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant was just focused on basketball and taking his team to the promised land, which didn’t happen in the end.

After another Kyrie drama this offseason, KD has decided that his time in Brooklyn is over and he’s now on the trade block, looking to find a new team where he can compete for a championship again. While Durant says that the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns are his preferred destinations, the NBA world is reacting to this shocking news.

Several stars, including Joel Embiid, Trae Young, and Ja Morant, have expressed their opinion on this.

We’ve never seen a superstar of this caliber request a trade, not even James Harden. Durant is a top-5 player in the association and even though it was reported that he would take this route, is still surprising that he’s decided to part ways with the Nets and try his luck with a different organization.

The Nets can’t catch a break and it seems like Kyrie is on his way out too. Ben Simmons is reportedly staying with the team, but the other two pieces of the Big 3 that never played together are done with the team.
