Nobody wants to be where Ben Simmons is right now. The Brooklyn Nets guard has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons since the start of the season, and now it appears his head coach is running out of answers.

Barring the odd flash-in-the-pan performance, Simmons has battled form and inconsistency throughout this season as the team continues to struggle in Kevin Durant’s absence.

If it was his reluctance to shoot in their loss against the Philadelphia 76ers, then it was his zero-point outing against the Detroit Pistons that’s now put him in soup. As for the result, the Nets went down 122-130 despite Kyrie Irving’s 40-point explosion.

Simmons, who played for two quarters, exited the game early in the third stretch due to reported “knee soreness,” and that earned quite the reaction from Jacque Vaughn in the aftermath of the loss. He had one rebound and seven assists to his name.

Speaking to the media, Vaughn shed light on the game, and when asked about Simmons’ injury, he rolled his eyes with a rather quiet smile on his face.

At the time of writing, there is no concrete update on his injury. Perhaps, it could be due to the load of the back-to-back contests. This didn’t go well with Nets fans, who could only feel for Irving after his scintillating performance went to waste.

Nets Fans Lash Out Against Ben Simmons After He Exits The Game With His “Knee Soreness”

An eagle-eyed fan took to Twitter to post a video of Simmons attempting to lock Jaden Ivey, and the latter brushed his nose in his attempt to evade the guard.

This was soon followed by Simmons exiting to the locker room, and safe to say, the fandom wasn’t pleased one bit.

This mfer Ben Simmons really took himself to the locker room & left the game for this hit? No wonder KD cant even look him in the eye. Soft#NetsWorld pic.twitter.com/lIDiNIkuag

This was seconded by another fan who was disappointed that Simmons airballed what was one of the easiest two points he could have earned.

Ben Simmons, man:

The disappointment was written large on the fans’ faces, surely. Simmons has not been having a great run this season, averaging 7.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists.

Brooklyn will be banking on Simmons to come good, and as the playoff favorites look to end their second half of the season on a high, the Aussie will hopefully break the shackles
