The NBA is a very fluid league, things are constantly changing in terms of which players are on top. In general, the adage, ‘You’re only as good as your last game,’ holds for the league as well. As such, the debates and discussions around the best players in the league are quite fluid and dynamic, with big performances and exciting matchups making a difference in how the biggest stars are perceived.

This season’s MVP race so far shows just how much high-end talent there is in the league. Nikola Jokic is putting up absurd numbers, Joel Embiid and Luka Doncic score like it’s the easiest thing in the world, and the likes of Kevin Durant and LeBron James are still tearing it up despite their advancing years. This is without even mentioning stars like Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo, it’s safe to say that almost everyone has a different opinion on which players are the best in the league.

Nikola Jokic Displaces Giannis Antetokounmpo As The NBA’s Best Player For The Ringer

This list isn’t so much about which players are dominating at the moment, it’s about ranking who the overall best is. And their Top 10 therefore has some names that some might not expect to see in there.

The Ringer has updated their Top 100 Players ranking again. New top 10:

1) Nikola Jokic
2) Giannis Antetokounmpo
3) Stephen Curry
4) Kevin Durant
5) Luka Doncic
6) Joel Embiid
7) Jayson Tatum
8) LeBron James
9) Ja Morant
10) Devin Booker

The list has seen some changes since the last time, with some players moving up and others moving down based on how things have been going. The major changes from the previous list are Nikola Jokic making it to the top, Kevin Durant climbing above Luka Doncic, and Ja Morant and Devin Booker becoming part of the list when they weren’t included in the Top 10 before.

These are finally opinions, they cannot be taken as fact, but it further points to the strength of Nikola Jokic’s MVP case once again this season. The Denver Nuggets big man is winning plaudits left right and center for his prowess, and it’s hard to deny him. He did get cooked by Joel Embiid in their matchup though, so perhaps by the time these rankings are updated, Jokic will lose his top spot.
