Philadelphia Local News Station Savagely Trolls Ben Simmons: “He’s Leaving Hastily Out Of Philadelphia.”

Bleacher Report

The relationship between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers looks worse by the day, and Philly fans don’t make things any easier for the franchise and the point guard.

Ben earned a lot of criticism for his poor performances after a disappointing ending of the 2021 NBA playoff, where Simmons failed to deliver for his team, getting eliminated in the second round against the Atlanta Hawks.

A couple of months later, the situation has only worsened. While Joel Embiid asks fans to behave and act better when addressing players, nobody is paying attention to the big man. In fact, one local news station trolled Simmons, comparing him to a garbage can.

Via The Spun:

During this Friday’s edition of Good Day Philadelphia on Fox 29, Mike Jerrick and the rest of the crew took an unwarranted shot at Simmons.

“We just got in footage of Ben Simmons leaving hastily out of Philadelphia. Let’s take a look,” Jerrick said before they showed a garbage can floating away at Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware.

Philly fans are ruthless. This is not the first time we’ve seen them act this way. Embiid also suffered this, and he knows how hard things can be.

Something must change there. During the playoff, somebody threw popcorn at Russell Westbrook, they have harassed their own players in the past, and now Simmons is getting a lot of hate for his performances.

The relationship between the player and the team seems unsalvageable, and these taunts only fuel the bad blood between them.
