Anthony Davis is one of the league's premier big men, and when he is healthy, he is a two-way force to be reckoned with. Anthony Davis is uniquely gifted as a scorer, and he is able to score fairly effectively at all three levels. He is also a top-tier defensive anchor.

There is no question that Anthony Davis is a supreme talent, and that he has the ability to put together an MVP-caliber season. In fact, he has been in MVP conversations before, and Anthony Davis has previously stated that he has "the capability" to lead the Los Angeles Lakers. If Davis can remain consistent and healthy, then the sky is the limit.

Rajon Rondo was one of the Lakers' offseason acquisitions, and he played a part in the Los Angeles Lakers winning the 2019-20 championship. Rondo was Davis' teammate on both the Pelicans and the Lakers, and he knows precisely what Anthony Davis is capable of. When speaking to Bill Oram of The Athletic, Rondo shared that his 2021-22 goals for Anthony Davis are for the unicorn big man to win an MVP award and lead the Lakers to the championship. Anthony Davis didn't have the best 2020-21 season, but he seems to be in a position to have his best year yet.

My expectation for him this year is MVP. Nothing less than MVP and a championship, and he’s a guy that can do it.”

I had no clue what happened last year. Coming back and talking to Frank and Rob, they told me about the year he had, and obviously, he wasn’t happy or satisfied with his performance.

People stopped talking about him or whatever you want to say. But the expectations of this team, if we’re the No. 1 seed or we’re heading into the playoffs the top-ranked dogs and A.D.’s the leading scorer, A.D.’s our defensive anchor, then you have to put him in that (MVP) category.

Anthony Davis is surrounded by two other stars in LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, but it will be up to him to lead the Los Angeles Lakers. He has the skill and ability to become the best star on the Lakers, especially considering the fact that LeBron James is getting older.

It remains to be seen if Anthony Davis will be able to win the MVP award, but it seems as though he has the trust of his teammates. Hopefully, we see the big man have a bounceback season, and perform at a high level in the upcoming year.
