After Kyrie Irving shockingly requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, every team linked with the point guard resurfaced, especially the Los Angeles Lakers. They couldn’t get a trade done in the 2022 offseason, but the desire to land Irving remained untouched.

The new developments involving the Australian-born player have sparked a lot of rumors around the league, and the Lakers appear to be leading this short but intense race. Kyrie has reportedly shown his desire to team up with LeBron James again, meaning the Lakers would need to get rid of Russell Westbrook to land Irving.

These rumors have made Lakers Nation happy, but Westbrook’s camp is bothered by them. The speculation gets fueled after Westbrook was listed out for the Lakers’ tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans while the Nets did the same with Kyrie Irving

This is a complex situation for those who care about Russ, as the player was showing interesting stuff coming off the bench for the Lakers. However, his efforts haven’t been enough to grant his continuity with the team, and now Kyrie is seemingly on his way to Crypto.com Arena.

Adding a player like Kyrie would make the Lakers legit championship contenders, but that’s exactly what so many people within the team thought when they traded for Westbrook, and we all know how that ended up.

However, it’s now or never for the Purple and Gold, and Kyrie could be really good for them for the rest of the 2022-23 NBA season.
