Shaquille O’Neal Teaching His Kids The Value Of Work And Education: “We Ain’t Rich, I’m Rich.”

2 Min Read

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the funniest people in the NBA world. After having a terrific career, winning four championships, and becoming one of the most dominant players in league history, he keeps doing his thing as an analyst.

As part of TNT’s Inside the NBA, O’Neal has become a fan-favorite thanks to his comments and trolling towards Charles Barkley and the rest of the crew. However, not everything is a joke for the former Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat star.

Shaq has taught people valuable lessons over the years, including the value of work and education. He started from those close to him, telling his kids that only because he’s rich doesn’t mean they all are.

In an old conversation with financial adviser Rashad Bilal and educator Troy Millings, the player revealed what he told his kids to keep them focused and not think they deserve anything because his dad is rich.

“My kids are older now. They kinda upset with me. They’re not really upset but they don’t understand. I tell them all the time we ain’t rich. I’m rich. No, you got to have bachelor’s or masters and then if you want to invest in one of your companies, you would have to present it to me and I’ll let you know. I’m not giving you nothing. The girls, I’ll take care of the girls, but the boys, they’re not getting nothing.”

Shaq is one of the most generous people out there, helping out others whenever he has the chance and showing the big heart he has. The former center never hesitates to give to the less fortunate, starring in wholesome moments in recent years.

It’s good that he teaches his kids to be responsible for themselves and fight for what they want. When he was young, his step-father told him to take care of his family, which he did, earning the bag and never missing a chance to make money.
