Steph Curry Jokes That He Is Not Good Yet And That He Must Play For Coach Kerr At The Olympic Games In Paris And Win The Gold Medal

2 Min Read

Stephen Curry built on his already impressive resume by winning Finals MVP as he led the Golden State Warriors to their 4th championship in 8 years by overcoming the Boston Celtics in six games. Curry was simply spectacular in the Finals as he averaged 31.2 points per game and his first Finals MVP has silenced a lot of his doubters as well.

It was always the knock on Curry’s legacy that he had failed to win Finals MVP in any of their three previous title runs and he shut that and a lot of other narratives down once and for all with this championship. When asked during the parade if he’s good after finally winning Finals MVP, Curry joked that there’s still one thing missing from his trophy cabinet.

“No, I’m not good yet, because I gotta go play for coach Kerr in 24 in Paris. That wasn’t a, ‘I’m going to do it.’ That was just what he said.”

Curry was referencing a joke Kerr made after they won the Finals when he said that Curry is missing an Olympic Gold Medal and that he has to focus on being on the 2024 Olympic team. Kerr was named as head coach for the USA Men’s National Basketball team from 2022 to 2024 after serving as an assistant previously and there’s no doubt he’d love to have Curry with him on the team.

Steph has never played in the Olympics due to his injuries in the past and thanks to his own taxing schedule in recent years, with the Warriors reaching 6 Finals in the last 8 seasons. Age is probably going to be what keeps him out of the 2024 Olympics, as Curry is already 34 years old but the prospect of getting his hands on that Gold Medal might just persuade him to get onboard.
