Stephen Curry and Carmelo Anthony were in Paris for the Olympics not too long ago, with the former dazzling on the basketball court while the latter was cheering him on from the sidelines. Now following their return to the U.S., Curry and Anthony met up again, this time at the game between the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox at Citi Field on Monday.

Both Curry and Anthony were wearing Siegelman Stables caps here. The brand collaborated with the Mets earlier this year to release an exclusive cap collection and it was launched on Monday.
Curry was seen wearing the cap for much of the game but while that might indicate he had no horse in this race, he was definitely rooting for the Red Sox. Years ago, the Golden State Warriors superstar revealed that he decided to root for the Red Sox because there was no MLB team in North Carolina.
“There’s no baseball team so I’m basically a free agent,” Curry said. “Me and my brother, I chose the Red Sox when I was 9 or 10, he chose the Yankees and we had our little rivalry going on. So that’s my team.”
Unfortunately for Curry, the Red Sox weren’t able to get the win in this clash, as the Mets beat them 4-1. They have now dropped to 70-68 on the season thanks to four losses in the last five games and need to turn things around soon if they are to make the playoffs. As for the Mets, they have now won five in a row to improve to 74-64, and Anthony, a Brooklyn native, would have been pleased by that.
Carmelo Anthony Called Stephen Curry One Of The Greatest Players Ever After The Olympics
Getting back to the Olympics, Anthony had front-row seats to Curry’s masterful performances in the semifinal and the final. Afterward, on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Carmelo spoke glowingly of the two-time MVP.
“He’s the greatest shooter I’ve ever seen,” Anthony said when asked if Curry is the greatest point guard of all time. “He’s a hell of a player. He is a great player. Like f*** best shooter, f*** best point, he’s one of the greatest players to ever grace this game. I don’t think we probably will ever see this again. Let’s appreciate this window of what we have with Steph.”
(starts at 3:32 mark):
Curry had struggled in the lead-up to the semifinal clash against Serbia but like the other all-time greats, stepped up when his team needed him the most. The 36-year-old recorded 36 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal against the Serbs to help Team USA overturn a 17-point deficit and win 95-91.
Then in the final against hosts France, Curry put up 24 points, 1 rebound, 5 assists, and 2 steals as Team USA won 98-87. With that, the 10-time All-Star finally won an Olympic gold medal, which was the only thing missing from his stellar resume.
Curry now hopes to have some success with the Warriors in the NBA, after they failed to make the playoffs last season. That disappointing end to the campaign led to some wondering if the superstar guard might want out, but he reaffirmed his commitment to the team by signing a one-year, $62.6 million extension last month.
