The Golden State Warriors ended up beating the Houston Rockets 122-108 in their most recent game. While the game was definitely competitive, even in the 4th quarter, Stephen Curry’s 40 point explosion meant that the Houston Rockets never had a chance.

Stephen Curry scored 21 points in the 4th quarter. After the game, he revealed that part of the reason the scoring explosion came was due to trash talk from opposing point guard Kevin Porter Jr. Curry claimed that he takes trash talk “as entertainment”, but added that sometimes he needs a “little boost”. Kendra Andrews of ESPN relayed the news.

But then in the fourth, Stephen Curry erupted. He scored 21 of his 40 points in the final frame giving Golden State enough juice to get the 122-108 victory. And it all started with Kevin Porter Jr.s’ trash talk on Curry.

“It’s a nice game within the game,” Curry said. “It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last time. I started bringing it to another level. You always have it, but you definitely bring another level of competitiveness when you have fun stuff like that. I take it all as entertainment, but sometimes you need a little boost.”

There is no doubt that trash talk can often motivate players to perform better in order to prove their opponent wrong. It seems as though this was the case today. Kevin Porter Jr. was no slouch on the evening though, as he has a stellar 17 point and 11 assist performance.

The Golden State Warriors have been a contender all season, and today they showed once again why some people have them winning the 2021-22 NBA championship. There’s no question that they are an amazing team that is good on both sides of the floor, and it’ll be exciting to see them and Stephen Curry back in the playoffs once again.
