NBA Rumors: Blake Griffin Wants To Return To The Nets Next Season

2 Min Read

When the Brooklyn Nets united Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they were instantly favored to come out of the East.

Of course, as we would eventually find out, they weren’t yet done making big-time moves.

A few weeks into the season, they traded for Rockets superstar James Harden, further locking up their place as title contenders.

Later, however, they would also bring in 5x All-Star Blake Griffin, who made a huge impact for the team all season long.

And now, according to Matt Brooks of Nets Daily, there is reason to believe he’ll re-sign for another run.

“There’s optimism that Blake Griffin wants to be back.”

It might sound like relatively minor news for a team with three All-Stars, but the Griffin signing could have big implications on their 2021-22 campaign.

All of the big three have a history of injuries, and there is no guarantee they’ll all be able to remain healthy throughout an entire season.

Griffin, who can play on the outside and under the rim, gives them a major boost offensively and can be especially useful if one of the big three misses time.

While it remains to be seen who else the Nets will sign this summer, they will have a number of suitors in free agency, as the franchise remains in a good position to win the title next year. It will be interesting to see how their roster shapes up in the end.

As for Griffin, it seems he’s in it for the long haul. Last season, he averaged 11 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3 assists per game on 49% shooting.
