NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Aren’t Interested In Adding Another Big Man

Even though most fans and analysts believe that the Boston Celtics’ lone weak spot is their lack of size, it seems like Danny Ainge isn’t that focused on improving their center position.

In fact, one unnamed NBA General Manager recently reached out to Sean Deveney of Forbes to say that there hasn’t been any kind of information about their alleged interest in Andre Drummond, Myles Turner, or Rudy Gobert, as it’s been reported recently:

“I do not think they are ignoring that spot, but I do not think they’re all that uncomfortable with what they have. That is the impression they leave. They are excited about those guys on the roster. They have decent options there. The narrative that is out there, that they need a change with their 5s, but I do not think that is accurate. I have not seen or heard anything to that extent,” the General Manager told Deveney.

Daniel Theis has done an outstanding job as a defensive big man and has the ability to stretch the floor thanks to his three-point shooting but he’s undersized and has struggled from time to time vs. more physical opposition.

Robert Williams III is also an undersized defensive specialist with flashes of great potential as a rim protector, but he’s struggled to improve in the offensive end. As for Enes Kanter, he’s a solid scorer and rebounder but has never been much of a stopper.

The Celtics have put together one of the most dynamic and promising cores in the league and there’s no doubt that they’ll be contenders for many years to come. However, they just don’t seem interested in fixing the only thing that’s keeping them from being the biggest powerhouse in the Eastern Conference.

Then again, Ainge is known for always having an ace up his sleeve, so you can be sure that they’re up to something and will make a couple of interesting moves ahead of next season.
