NBA Rumors: James Wiseman Not Interested In Joining Timberwolves Because Of Karl-Anthony Towns

2 Min Read

Contrary to what every other prospect in the draft may think, James Wiseman is not interested in being drafted as the No. 1 pick. That selection belongs to the Minnesota Timberwolves and picking Wiseman seems very unnecessary for them. They already have a talented big man in Karl-Anthony Towns so picking Wiseman wouldn’t make so much sense for them; the young player feels the same and he’s made it clear.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Wiseman has no intention of going to play in Minnesota because the Dominican-American player is there, which would affect his chances to develop and improve his game. To be fair, it’s not like Minnesota will waste their pick in another big man, but we’ve seen crazier things in the NBA draft. During a recent appearance on the Scoop podcast with Darren Wolfson, Windhorst revealed the real feelings of Wiseman about the upcoming draft.

“Wiseman does not want to come to Minnesota because Karl Towns is there,” Windhorst said. “From what I understand, Wiseman doesn’t even want to do anything with the Wolves.”

There is no general consensus of which player could go with the No. 1 selection this year but the former Memphis Tigers player knows very well where he doesn’t want to go. It remains to be seen what the T-Wolves will do with that pick, too, as there’ve been rumors that they could trade it before draft day.

Wiseman is still considered a top-5 pick in the 2020 draft, so he’ll have more options besides Minnesota.
