NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant And Kyrie Irving Want ‘Big-Name Coach’

2 Min Read

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have yet to suit up together since joining the Brooklyn Nets in July. With the status of this season still up in the air, we will likely have to wait until next fall to see them in action together.

But who will they pick to lead the locker room?

Following the departure of Kenny Atkinson, there have been many names suggested to lead the team. So far, only one thing is for sure: they want a big name.

“One of the things that has been expressed sort of through the grapevine, that’s the way I’m going to say it to protect myself from the aggregators, is that Durant and Irving would like a blue-chip coach,” said ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on The Hoop Collective. “I don’t know what this says about the way they thought about Atkinson, but they want a big-name coach.”

Marc Jackson, Ty Lue, Tom Thibodeau, and Jeff Van Gundy are candidates that immediately come to mind.

And while all of them have their own style of doing things, they are known to have worked with basketball stars in the past. In the case of Lue, he specifically worked with the Cavs team that had Kyrie and LeBron James.

He seems like an ideal fit.

But, in the end, nobody knows who they will pick.
