NBA Rumors: Pau Gasol Would Like To Finish Career With The Los Angeles Lakers

2 Min Read

Pau Gasol is in the latter stages of his career, but he wants to have one last dance before calling it a career. Gasol wants to play next year in the Olympics, which is why he’s looking for another shot in the NBA, though he hasn’t ruled out a return to Europe.

The Spanish big man claimed he’s not closing the door to any team, but seems a move to Los Angeles Lakers or Barcelona as am ‘attractive’ option.

“I’m feeling good. I’ve had more time to recover,” he was quoted as saying by Spanish media, via NBC Los Angeles. “When I can start running and jumping I will have a lot more information to know for sure if the foot and the bone are consolidated for me to be playing professional basketball again.”

After picking a foot injury, Pau has been inactive for over a year, but he’s confident he can have at least one more year in the association before finally leaving the courts.

“My intention is to play another season if the foot is OK, either in the NBA or in Europe,” he said. “A final season with the Lakers is attractive, finishing at Barça is attractive, but you have to see the real possibilities and see what situation would be best for the circumstances of the moment.”

After starting his career in Barcelona, Gasol played for the Memphis Grizzlies, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Chicago Bulls, the San Antonio Spurs and the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. With the Lakers, he won two titles so it’s not a surprise if he wants to return to the place where he lived his best moments as a pro.

It remains to be seen if the Purple and Gold actually intends to sign the big man. That would be a dream for him.
