28-year-old Jerami Grant is a highly coveted two-way wing player that may have played his last game in Detroit.

According to a new report by ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, the 6’8″ forward is expected to be put on the trade block this summer and moved to a new team in a lucrative deal.

“The incumbent is widely expected to be on the move this summer, as he’s entering the final year of his contract and doesn’t look to be on the same timetable as the rest of the Pistons’ roster.”

As the Pistons shift focus towards building around Cade Cunningham, it makes sense that they would use Grant as leverage to acquire new assets. The question now is, where will he land?

As reported back in March, the Trail Blazers have been leading the pursuit of his services.

Givony reported it, and you did as well, that the Blazers were one of the teams persistent in trying to get Grant. I don’t think at the time they had the assets Troy Weaver was looking for to trade Grant. He’s somebody they like and a good player. Troy had all the leverage. He doesn’t have to trade Grant.

Portland’s going to find itself in an interesting situation where they could have a high draft pick coming up… Maybe if it’s high enough, it’s an offer the Pistons can’t refuse. If Jerami gets traded anywhere this offseason, it’s going to be Portland. It feels like Portland is still the front-runner.

In Portland, Grant would be a welcome addition as a 3-and-D sidekick next to Damian Lillard and starting big man Jusuf Nurkic. If not, the Hawks, Jazz, and Kings could make a move.

Either way, expect Grant to be wearing a different jersey next season, and it could be all he needs to launch a breakout season. We will find out soon enough.
