Breaking: Warriors Land Kelly Oubre Jr. In Trade With Oklahoma City Thunder

2 Min Read

As the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to chase draft picks, some of their talented vets are being traded in the process.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, they’ve just reached a deal to send the newly-acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. (who they got in a trade with the Suns) to the Golden State Warriors.

The trade is no doubt a direct response to the Klay Thompson injury, which will see the All-Star sidelined for his second-straight season.

Oubre isn’t on Thompson’s level but provides much of the same things. Aside from his shooting and scoring ability, he is a talented wing defender who still has not yet reached his peak. As a prominent player on the Suns last season, he averaged 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on 35% shooting from beyond the arc.

In return, the Thunder will likely receive picks, a sign that they’re ready to trade in their chips for future assets. Sam Presti has been busy making deals, sending Chris Paul, Dennis Schroder, Kelly Oubre, and Danny Green to other teams in the span of just a couple of days.

We can probably expect more action from the team as the offseason continues.
