Warriors GM Bob Myers Says Klay Thompson And Derrick Rose Are The Most Popular Players In The League

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Warriors GM Bob Myers gave some major praise to his star, Klay Thompson, saying he was among the most “universally beloved” players in the league.

Interestingly, he also gave the classification to Pistons guard Derrick Rose.

Bob Myers: "I've never met anybody who doesn't like Klay. … There's two players in the NBA that everybody likes and respects: Klay Thompson and Derrick Rose. Those two guys are universally beloved. How your peers feel about you in life says more than anything else."

Derrick Rose was an MVP before suffering a series of brutal and debilitating injuries early in his career. After years of struggling to stay healthy and get his body right, he was never able to return to his peak form. Still, his perseverance has earned far-reaching respect from the community, and fans have rallied around his recent resurgence.

As for Klay, his humility and dedicated work ethic have made him a fan favorite. As he battles with injuries of his own, the hope is that he is able to return and fill the void his absence leaves in NBA basketball.

It’s unfortunate that obstacles have bombarded and hijacked the career of two of the most popular players in the game. But kudos to them for pushing on and persevering amid challenging circumstances.

Rose went down with an ankle injury right before the hiatus in March, and Klay Thompson was diagnosed with a right Achilles tear on Thursday morning.
