NBA Rumors: Knicks “Aggressively” Pursuing Gordon Hayward

1 Min Read

The New York Knicks had a pretty good draft day, bringing in Obi Toppin out of Dayton with the eighth pick.

As they look towards free agency, the pursuit for talent continues — and they already have a target in mind. According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, Gordon Hayward is one name being talked about within the Knicks organization.

As of Thursday evening, Hayward opted out of his $34 million player option, signaling to league insiders, at the very least, he’s as good as gone from Boston.

It is believed that the Knicks have already agreed to an offer with Hayward — but for how much that deal will be is still anyone’s guess.

This past season, the 30-year-old swingman averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists on 50% shooting.

His scoring ability and two-sided game can help New York develop their talent and inch closer to a playoff berth in the East. Obviously, they will need to do more if they want to become serious contenders.
