Brandon Ingram may be signaling that his time with the New Orleans Pelicans is coming to an end after a recent Instagram post that has sparked speculation about his future with the team. The post, which featured a motivational video discussing the importance of being in environments that recognize and appreciate one’s value, has been interpreted by many as a subtle hint at Ingram’s dissatisfaction with his current situation in New Orleans.

Ah… the NBA is real quiet, literally nothing happening… All the trades seem to be done…

The timing of this post is particularly noteworthy, as Ingram is entering the final year of his five-year, $158 million contract with the Pelicans. Throughout the offseason, there have been rumors and discussions about whether the Pelicans would offer Ingram a max extension worth $208 million, a figure that Ingram reportedly seeks.

However, the Pelicans have been hesitant to commit to such a large contract, given the team’s mixed results and Ingram’s occasional struggles with consistency, particularly during the playoffs.

Ingram’s post seems to suggest that he feels undervalued by the organization, and it has fueled speculation that he might be looking for a change of scenery if the Pelicans do not meet his contract demands.

Despite being a key player for New Orleans and consistently averaging over 20 points per game during his time with the team, the unresolved contract situation and apparent dissatisfaction could lead to trade discussions or even a departure in free agency.

The Pelicans, who are already dealing with the ongoing saga of Zion Williamson’s health and availability, now face another potential crisis with one of their star players.

If Ingram’s contract situation is not resolved soon, it could create a significant distraction for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. With the NBA season approaching, all eyes will be on how the Pelicans’ front office handles this delicate situation and whether they can keep their core intact or if Ingram’s time in New Orleans is indeed coming to an end.

The Pelicans Need To Find A Way To Make Brandon Ingram Stay

The New Orleans Pelicans find themselves at a crucial crossroads with Brandon Ingram. With the risk of losing him for nothing in free agency, the team must make every effort to keep Ingram for the upcoming season and see how their new roster experiment pans out. The combination of Dejounte Murray, Ingram, Zion Williamson, and CJ McCollum has the potential to be a formidable lineup, offering a unique blend of scoring, playmaking, and defensive prowess.

The Pelicans have committed to building around Zion, and the recent acquisition of Murray signals their intention to compete at a high level. By retaining Ingram, the Pelicans give themselves a legitimate shot at contending in the competitive Western Conference. The synergy between these four stars could unlock a new level of success for New Orleans, making them a team to watch.

However, if the experiment doesn’t yield the desired results, the Pelicans can explore trading Ingram before the deadline to recoup value. The challenge lies in convincing other teams that Ingram is more than just a short-term rental, as he approaches free agency. For now, the Pelicans must focus on maximizing their current roster’s potential, keeping Ingram in the fold, and seeing where this season takes them.
