D’Angelo Russell may no longer be an All-Star, but he is still a very good offensive point guard in the NBA. He is a solid scorer and facilitator, and D’Angelo Russell is currently averaging 16.6 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 6.3 APG while shooting 35.6% from beyond the arc.
Since he is on an expiring contract, D’Angelo Russell could potentially be shopped by the Minnesota Timberwolves so they can avoid losing him for nothing. Timberwolves insider Darren Wolfson has recently suggested that one team that is interested in acquiring Russell is the Miami Heat.

There’s no doubt that D’Angelo Russell could potentially help the Miami Heat offensively, and he would certainly be a better point guard option than Kyle Lowry as of this moment. It remains to be seen if Russell does end up getting traded, or whether the Timberwolves end up keeping him throughout the season.
The Miami Heat Have Been Linked With Bojan Bogdanovic
Due to their position in the standings, the Miami Heat have been linked with a number of moves to potentially improve their roster. Aside from D’Angelo Russell, the team has also been mentioned as a suitor for Bojan Bogdanovic.
Bogdanovic’s strong play has led numerous playoff-caliber teams around the league to express interest in trading for him, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks, among several others, league sources told HoopsHype. Thus far, Detroit has been unwilling to engage in trade talks for the 33-year-old forward. Rival executives, however, are hopeful that stance changes closer to the deadline if Detroit continues to remain in the cellar of the East, with Cade Cunningham expected to miss the rest of the season.
It remains to be seen what player the Miami Heat will end up trading for. Since there’s a lot of competition to acquire Bojan Bogdanovic, perhaps trading for D’Angelo Russell will be easier. The team has also been connected to Julius Randle in the past.
Hopefully, the Miami Heat figure out a way to improve as a team, even if it isn’t via trade. They still have Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro on the roster, and we’ll see how well the team ends up doing in the coming weeks.
