Jaylen Brown spoke after the Boston Celtics‘ 113-107 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Addressing a moment he had with Giannis Antetokounmpo after a hard foul, Brown slammed the former MVP for being childish, and not showing respect during the game, but stressed that he was focused on helping the Celtics win the game.

“Giannis is a child. I’m just focused on helping my team get a win. And that’s what we did tonight.”

During the game, Giannis hit Jaylen Brown with a hard elbow to the head during the game. As the pair were running up the court, Giannis extended his hand to offer a handshake, seemingly trying to make amends after the moment. However, as Brown extended his hand to accept the handshake, Giannis pulled his hand away and ran it through his hair, a long-used taunt meant to disrespect the other person.

Brown struggled in the Celtics’ win, as he put up just 14 points, five rebounds, and five assists while shooting 4-13 from the field, 1-5 from the three-point line, and 5-6 from the stripe. Despite Brown’s poor performance, the Celtics were able to win thanks to Jayson Tatum.

As for Antetokounmpo, he was the best player for the Bucks, scoring 43 points, along with 13 rebounds, with five assists and two blocks. He shot 18-29 from the field, 1-2 from beyond the arc, and 6-10 from the free-throw line. Despite his heroics for the Bucks, they weren’t able to win the game, now boasting a record of 2-8, the second-worst in the East behind the 76ers.

Giannis Causes Tatum Injury Scare

Giannis Antetokounmpo certainly made himself the enemy of Celtics fans throughout the game, and almost derailed the team’s season with a scary moment during the game. As Jayson Tatum attempted to shoot a corner three, Giannis Antetokounmpo closed him out, but stepped very close to his landing spot, causing Tatum to land awkwardly and seemingly injure his ankle.

Tatum himself reacted to this after the game, calling out the referees for not calling this as a foul. And given how far into his landing spot Giannis was, his frustration is more than warranted.

“I was able to play through it… Probably be a little sore tomorrow… Coaches calmed me down. It’s a tough situation. I get my fair share of techs throughout the season, rightfully so and unrightfully so. Certain calls, I feel like you can’t miss. Their job is to protect the guys on the court, protect the shooter.”

“That’s something, I could’ve been out for six weeks. For it to be a no-call, let alone they didn’t review it or look at it, I lose my sh*t, cuss them out, then get a tech, it’s like a double whammy. That sh*t is frustrating when all you get is a ‘Sorry, we missed it’. Ankle swollen, you gotta figure it out. That definitely was frustrating.”

Luckily, as Tatum mentioned, he was able to play through the injury scare and doesn’t think that he is seriously hurt after the play.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has a history of making some dangerous plays, with the most notable example coming in the 2021 NBA playoffs, when he made a hard play for the ball against the Nets’ Kyrie Irving, which caused him to miss the rest of the series, allowing the Bucks to beat the Nets and win the NBA championship.

As things stand, there is no word on whether Antetokounmpo’s antics will be reprimanded by the league. Considering how much traction this incident is receiving on social media, the NBA could feel obligated to intervene in the matter.
