Draymond Green and Kevin Durant had a major falling out last season after the former struck Jusuf Nurkic in a game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns. Green took issue with some comments Durant made after the game but it would appear all is fine now. On the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, Green revealed he and Durant met this past offseason.

“Last year, I got suspended with stuff with Nurkic, and KD said something that I didn’t like,” Green said. “Because I was like, ‘Damn, K got my number.’ You’re going to go out publicly and feed this narrative like, ‘Yo, I hope he get the help he need.’ I was upset about it and I felt a way and I was pissed.

“I saw KD in the offseason and we chopped it up,” Green continued. “Man-to-man, face-to-face, we chopped it up. I told him how I felt, he told me how he felt and that ‘Damn, I didn’t think that would be seen that way.’ … We talked about it.”

Green stated that he usually ignores whatever people say about him. The fact that someone whom he knew like Durant said something meant it got to him.

“Many things that most people say, they don’t bother me,” Green stated. “They don’t affect me, I don’t give a damn. KD is someone that if KD say something, I care. I cared a lot when he said that about me last year.”

It was very clear that Green was deeply hurt by his former teammate’s comments. In case you don’t recall, Durant had stated that he hoped Green would get the help he needed.

“That was insane to see. Never seen that before in an NBA game. It’s incident after incident, I hope he gets the help he needs. He hasn’t been that way when I was around or coming into the league so I hope he gets the help he needs, get back on the court and put all this stuff behind him.”

While many, including myself, didn’t see much of an issue with what Durant said, that wasn’t the case for the man in question. Green stated on the podcast that he was pissed off when he heard what Durant said. As he said here, he felt the Suns star could have just called him up and spoken about this instead of talking publicly.

In response, Durant made it clear he did not intend to harm Green by making those comments. He stated he didn’t mean any sort of disrespect with it, but Draymond rejected the peace offering.

Green fired a fair few shots at Durant in the months that followed but it would appear things have finally calmed down. It’s good to see these two back on good terms and hopefully, they won’t have another falling out in the future.

For now, though, Green and Durant’s focus would be on two very different things. Green is getting ready for an NBA Cup quarterfinal clash against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center on Wednesday at 9:30 PM ET while Durant is on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. It’s not expected to keep him out for long and he certainly should be back long before the Suns take on the Warriors on Dec. 28.
