Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield continued to take jabs at each other during their post-game interviews. Hield could be heard speaking up in the background and poking fun at Butler’s ‘fake’ triple-double. The former Heat star clapped back saying Hield doesn’t pass the ball enough to get a triple-double, before giving praise to Draymond Green for his performance on the night.
Jimmy Butler: “[I told Draymond] I can do that too…”
Buddy Hield: “You’re talking to Jimmy? You see that fake-a** triple-double he got today? That fake-a** triple-double?”
Butler: “You don’t pass the ball enough to get a triple-double. So I’m not even worried about you. Jeez Louise! Like I always say, I respect Draymond so much. I definitely respect him because he took 14 threes tonight. I love that. He’ll do anything to make sure this squad gets a W. He’s willing to do it.”
Jimmy Butler told Draymond Green after his win-sealing block: “I can do that, too.”

Butler did have a triple-double on the night the Warriors beat the Raptors 117-114, but he had far from an efficient night shooting the ball. He put up 16 points (4-15 FG), 11 rebounds, 12 assists, two steals, and two blocks. His shooting was lackluster, but he showed how he could impact the game on all levels and on both ends of the court.
As for Buddy Hield, he had just two points (1-1 FG), and two rebounds after just nine minutes of playing. Despite impacting the box score very marginally on the night, Hield feels comfortable enough in his dynamic to take a jab at his friend. Regardless of the comments, Butler put up a strong performance, one that was needed, given what happened to Stephen Curry.
Curry went down hurt during the game after a drive to the basket. Steve Kerr revealed that Curry suffered a pelvic contusion and that he was getting an MRI almost immediately after the game. The hope is that Curry can recover from his injury quickly and not miss too much time away from the team as they look to make a playoff push.
The Warriors’ win over the Raptors allowed them to go 41-29 for the season. They still sit firm in sixth place in the Western Conference but are closing the gap on teams ahead of them in the standings. Golden State can conceivably make a push for a top-4 seed in the West, but they will have to keep their fingers crossed that some of the teams above them make some big mistakes between now and the end of the season.
The arrival of Butler has been the injection of life that the Warriors’ season needed, as they were floundering before he joined the team. He has proven to be a great complement to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and has helped the Warriors make something out of a season that looked to be doomed just a few weeks ago.
Things can only get better for the Warriors in the playoffs, as Jimmy is known to be one of the biggest playoff risers in the entire league. So he could take his game to another level in the postseason and make the Warriors legit dark horses.
