The Golden State Warriors are a total mess right now and Stephen Curry’s frustrations appear to be growing by the minute. The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reported that Curry looked “exasperated” during the Warriors’ 114-98 loss to the Miami Heat at Chase Center on Tuesday, and he was indeed visibly frustrated after being subbed out for the final time.

You certainly can’t blame Curry for not being in good spirits these days, as the Warriors are crumbling right in front of our eyes. They got off to a 12-3 start this season but have now dropped to 18-18 with this loss to the Heat. This latest defeat was one of their worst of the season too.
The Heat were without the suspended Jimmy Butler and had just lost 123-118 in double overtime to the Sacramento Kings on Monday. You’d have expected them to be lacking in energy in the second night of a back-to-back but they managed to run all over the hosts and improved to 18-17 on the season.
Curry was one of the few bright spots on the night for the Warriors. The 36-year-old had 31 points (11-22 FG), seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks against the Heat. He got little to no help from his supporting cast, as only two other Warriors even managed to get to double digits in points.
Curry made some unwanted personal history against the Heat too. You’d notice he had no assists in the game and he had none in their brutal 129-99 loss to the Kings on Sunday as well. It meant that for the first time in Curry’s career, he had failed to register an assist in back-to-back games. While some of that is down to him, it speaks more to his teammates’ struggles.
After that loss to the Kings, Curry stated the Warriors aren’t built to come back from large deficits. That was a damning statement and it came just days after Curry had admitted the Warriors are a “mid” team. It’s safe to say he is not too pleased with what’s around him right now.
Steve Kerr Can See The Warriors’ Slump Weighing On Stephen Curry
Curry’s deflated demeanor during the game obviously didn’t go unnoticed. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was asked postgame if the team’s slump has been weighing on the two-time MVP and he felt it has.
“Yeah, I can see it with Steph,” Kerr said. “He’s continued to be brilliant night after night, but at his core, he’s a winner. He’s a champion. He wants to compete at the highest level. We just saw it a few months ago in Paris. The best of the best and he takes over in the fourth quarter when everything’s on the line.
“That’s who he is, that’s what he lives for,” Kerr added. “So he is really struggling with the emotion of not being competitive right now. He probably hasn’t had to deal with this since his—I don’t know—first couple of years in the league. So, he’s definitely struggling with it.”
You’d think the Warriors would want to do something to lift Curry’s spirits. The 10-time All-Star has repeatedly insisted that he wants to finish his career with the franchise but if they keep struggling like this, you wonder if he considers going elsewhere.
For now, though, Curry’s focus would be on trying to get the Warriors out of this slump. They’re in action next against the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday at 7 PM ET.
