The Los Angeles Lakers were brought down to Earth after back-to-back strong wins over the Sacramento Kings as they fell to a 114-117 loss to the Detroit Pistons at the Crypto.com Arena tonight. The Lakers had won four of their last five games heading into tonight but couldn’t outmatch the Pistons in a close matchup.

LeBron James led the team with 28 points (10-16 FG), 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, with Anthony Davis putting up 19 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Max Christie had his best offensive performance of the season with 17 points (6-10 FG) while Austin Reaves had 12 points (5-9 FG) and seven rebounds.

Fans were not happy about the Lakers letting this one slip against a mid-tier team in the Eastern Conference.

“What an awful performance from the Lakers,” said a blunt fan.

“Bron did everything to give the Lakers a chance and they let him down,” said one fan angry at the wasted brilliance of LeBron.

“Lakers wasted a LeBron masterclass,” said one disappointed fan.

“Pistons making the Lakers look hella soft,” said another fan slamming the franchise.

“Lakers fans watching their team lose to the Tobias Harris & Malik Beasley led Pistons,” said a fan shocked at how the game turned out.

“Lakers almost tricked me into thinking they were turning it around a bit just to lose to Detroit at home. Disgusting,” said one angry fan who isn’t excited about the Lakers’ recent turnaround after this loss.

“It’s been like this for four seasons straight. That’s why the statement ‘The Lakers are back’ is such a meme after every mini win streak because no one truly believes it. Complacency because you have role guys who take nights off when they please,” said one really angry fan about the team’s return to poor form.

The Pistons were led by a terrific shooting performance from Malik Beasley off the bench (21 PTS, 8-15 FG). Cade Cunningham had 20 points (9-25 FG), five rebounds, and 10 assists in the impressive win while backcourt partner Jaden Ivey had 18 points (8-15 FG). Tim Hardaway Jr chipped in with 15 points (5-8 FG), Simone Fontecchio had 13 points (4-4 FG), and rookie Ron Holland scored 10 (5-7 FG).

This was a significant loss for the franchise, who needed a win to keep themselves safe in the hunt for a top-six seed. They’ve fallen back to the No. 7 seed, currently half a game behind the No. 6 seed, so they need to maximize their games before the end of the year.

They will be in action on Christmas night next, hoping to hold their own against the similarly-struggling Golden State Warriors who also fell to a close loss against a Central division team tonight.
