The Los Angeles Lakers registered arguably their most impressive win of the season on Saturday night, beating the New York Knicks 128-112 at Madison Square Garden. LeBron James once again put on a show at MSG, his favorite NBA arena, as the Lakers took down one of the hottest teams in the league to improve to 28-19.

James recorded his 10th triple-double of the season here against the Knicks, finishing with 33 points (14-26 FG), 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. Austin Reaves stepped up in Anthony Davis’ absence with 27 points (7-12 FG), five rebounds, six assists, and three steals while Rui Hachimura had 21 points (8-12 FG), three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Max Christie and Dorian Finney-Smith scored 15 points each as well, and Lakers fans were over the moon with their team’s display.

“We’re living in crazy times. I never want to hear a debate about who’s the greatest, LeBron remains at the top,” one fan hailed James as the GOAT.

“This was their most impressive win of the season,” one fan believes this was the best win of the season.

“You played beautiful basketball tonight Lakers. Well done,” one fan applauded the Lakers for playing some beautiful basketball.

“What a win in MSG, the defense showed up without AD. One of the standout wins of the season. Let’s finish this Grammy road trip with a W against the Clippers,” one praised the Lakers for getting the win without Davis.

“Get a center and we’re winning the chip,” one fan believes the Lakers are just a top center away from winning it all.

Lakers fans are hoping this performance gives the front office motivation to go out and make a win-now trade. They believe this team isn’t too far away from becoming a serious contender and you wouldn’t blame anyone for thinking that after this showing.

The Lakers put on a clinic offensively against the Knicks. They went 47-81 (58.0%) from the field and 19-40 (47.5%) from beyond the arc. It was their second-best shooting night from the field this season as they made light work of that Knicks defense.

The only negative from the night for the Lakers was that they allowed the Knicks to haul in 16 offensive rebounds. Had they done a better job on the glass, the margin of victory would have been much higher. Those struggles were to be expected, though, without Davis and the Lakers need to bring in another competent big.

The Knicks were led by Josh Hart here, as he had 26 points (11-16 FG), 13 rebounds, 11 assists, and two steals. Unfortunately for Hart, the stars failed to show up. Karl-Anthony Towns had just 11 points (3-12 FG), six rebounds, and three assists while Jalen Brunson put up 17 points (7-18 FG), two rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.

The Knicks are going to lose more often than not when Towns and Brunson are that ineffective on offense. This defeat snapped the Knicks’ five-game win streak and dropped them to 32-17 on the season. They’ll look to bounce back when they take on the Houston Rockets next at Madison Square Garden on Monday at 7:30 PM ET.

As for the Lakers, they’ll look to make it three wins in a row when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Intuit Dome on Tuesday at 10 PM ET.
