LeBron James was not looking to be humble after he and Stephen Curry put on a Christmas Day classic where the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 115-113 in a clutch win. James and Curry led their respective teams with massive individual performances, with the game living up to the ‘LeBron vs. Steph’ billing with which it had been promoted for the last week.

After the triumphant performance, James was asked about the best things in the modern NBA, where he confidently named himself and Steph, with Austin Reaves showing his agreement with the statement as well.

LeBron James: “LeBron and Steph.”

Austin Reaves: “Great f***ing answer.”

James was then asked about Curry’s flurry in the final two minutes of the game where he hit two big threes to cut a nine-point lead in the fourth and threaten OT before Austin Reaves hit the game-winner.

“I mean, I don’t play ‘your turn, my turn’ basketball. You just tip your hat when you’ve got a player like that out there, and try to execute the next possession. It’s a feeling of, ‘Sh*t why us?’ but then you’re also a fan like, ‘How the hell did he make it? He’special,’ so you’ve gotta have an appreciation for that.”

LeBron put up 31 points (12-22 FG) and 10 assists in this win where Anthony Davis got hurt after seven minutes in the first quarter. Curry might have outshined LeBron individually with 38 points (14-24 FG) and six assists, but his late-game heroics were nullified when Austin Reaves hit the game-winner to seal the win for LA.

Reaves ended the night with a triple-double of 26 points (8-20 FG), 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, alongside the game-winner. Rui Hachimura had 18 points (6-12 FG) in a strong showing while Max Christie continued his great form with 16 points (5-13 FG). Dalton Knecht gave them 13 points off the bench (5-9 FG).

Curry didn’t get much help beyond Andrew Wiggins, who had 21 points (8-19 FG) and 12 rebounds but also gave up the final basket of the game to Reaves. Jonathan Kuminga had 14 points (4-10 FG) and six rebounds, and Trayce Jackson-Davis got 11 points (5-7 FG) with nine rebounds in another solid start. Dennis Schroder struggled with 11 points (3-10 FG) and five assists.
