Scotty Pippen Jr. played a big part in the Memphis Grizzlies‘ 131-114 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Pippen Jr., who was once on the Lakers, spoke after the game about his performance, claiming that the Lakers never believed in him, suggesting that he wanted to prove a point to them by helping his new team, the Grizzlies get the win.

“They didn’t believe in me so I’m out here, trying my best.”

Desmond Bane would hijack Pippen’s interview and joke about Pippen stealing the ball from LeBron James.

“He snatched that ball from that old man (LeBron) over there.”

This steal allowed the Grizzlies to start a quick offensive move that led to a big three-pointer to extend the Grizzlies’ lead.

Pippen Jr. also made a big shot for the Grizzlies that got the entire team hyped up. His big shot allowed the Grizzlies to extend their lead to 14 points, which put the game out of reach for the Lakers.

It was a solid performance from Pippen Jr., who put up 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block. He shot 5-9 from the field, 3-4 from beyond the arc, and 1-2 from the free-throw line. It was a motivated performance from the son of the 6-time NBA champion, who wanted to prove the Lakers wrong.

This isn’t the first performance that Pippen Jr. has had that was motivated by his stint with the Lakers. Recently, Pippen Jr. spoke after the Grizzlies’ win over the Milwaukee Bucks, where he took a shot against Darvin Ham, the former head coach of the Lakers who had now joined the Bucks’ coaching staff.

Scotty Pippen Jr. Ready To Find NBA Success

LeBron James spoke after the game about Scotty Pippen Jr. He had high praise for his former teammate and addressed the challenges Pippen had to face, especially given his last name. He did wish that he was still on the Lakers but wished him well in his career nonetheless.

“Been a pro. He grew up in it. He grew up around it and he’s made a name for himself as well. He’s been a pro. I knew it when he was with us, and unfortunately, he’s not anymore, but I’m happy for him.”

Scotty Pippen Jr. struggled to find success with the Lakers, playing just six games for them. He averaged just 5.3 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. The Lakers waived him last year, and he would eventually join the Memphis Grizzlies as a two-way player earlier this year.

After a very strong performance in the NBA Summer League for the Grizzlies, they offered him a full-time four-year contract. Now on the Grizzlies, Pippen has done well, averaging 11.7 points, 6.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game.

Pippen Jr. is trying to make a name for himself in the NBA, and after a difficult start to his career, he has found a home with the Memphis Grizzlies.
