That seemingly casual remark immediately sent shockwaves through NBA Twitter, with two teams now under a bright spotlight: the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.
While the Orlando Magic have an exciting young core led by Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, they remain a long shot for Giannis. The franchise is still in the early stages of building its identity, and it’s unlikely they would upend their timeline by cashing in assets for a 30-year-old superstar.
That leaves the Miami Heat a team in need of a new face following the Jimmy Butler trade as the more viable Florida-based landing spot.
