The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are battling right now in a Sunday night showcase game. However, their battles became less basketball-focused during the third quarter. Julian Champagnie and Kenrich Williams were battling during possession, but when the ball left Champagnie’s hands, the two got in each other’s face, as things got very physical.
Things are getting HEATED during the Spurs-Thunder matchup πΏπ

The situation quickly became a bench-clearing brawl, as all players and staff members had to intervene to try and separate the two sides. Things got pretty heated between the two players, and the rest of the teams got involved with some physicality to make sure that things didn’t get out of hand too quickly.
This just goes to show the level at which the Spurs and Thunder are competing at tonight. Despite being massively understaffed after losing Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs are still competing against the best team in the West. At the time of this writing, it is still an eight-point game with a 109-117 scoreline in favor of the Thunder.
Things can get chippy during games all the time, but it is hard to understand what exactly Williams thought Champagnie did wrong. He just tried to make a basketball play. Even if he used his shoulder to exploit Williams’ physical mismatch, everything in the clip suggests it was in keeping with the rules of the game.
The Thunder might use this brawl as motivation to make a run deep in the game to try and upset the Thunder, who have recently shown some signs of weakness. Getting a big win over the best team in the conference without their best player would remind the world of the famed Spurs culture of playing hard and the right way on a nightly basis.
