The NBA is all about the three-pointer now and players are letting it fly from beyond the arc more than ever before. We have seen an average of 37.5 threes attempted per game in 2024-25, the most in league history. They’re being made at a solid clip of 36.0% too and today we decided to take a deeper look at the players who have fared the best and worst when it comes to that three-ball.

Hottest – We start off with the ones who have excelled at shooting threes. To paint a more accurate picture, we’re only considering players who have featured in at least five games and are making at least two threes a game.

1. Taurean Prince: 54.2%

2. Nikola Jokic: 50.0%

3. Norman Powell: 48.6%

4. AJ Green: 48.2%

5. Nikola Vucevic: 47.4%

6. Kyrie Irving: 47.0%

7. Royce O’Neal: 44.9%

8. Kevin Durant: 44.9%

9. Karl-Anthony Towns: 44.7%

10. Cam Johnson: 43.4%

Taurean Prince is having a sensational season from a shooting standpoint as he is well clear of the pack here. Nikola Jokic, meanwhile, has been sensational in every aspect of the game and it’s remarkable that he is as high as he is on this list. Norman Powell comes in at third and what is so impressive about that, is that he is attempting 7.9 threes a game, the most of anyone in this top 10 by a bit.

In case you’re wondering where on Earth Stephen Curry is, well he’s shooting 41.2% from three this season. That is only good enough for the 24th spot on this list.

Coldest – From the hottest, we now look at the coldest. The same rules for that list apply here too and I’m certain you’ll be shocked by some of the names on here.

1. Tyrese Maxey: 29.3%

2. Trae Young: 31.0%

3. Paul George: 31.2%

4. CJ McCollum: 31.4%

5. Jalen Suggs: 32.0%

6. Franz Wagner: 32.1%

7. Fred VanVleet: 32.1%

8. Donte DiVincenzo: 32.2%

9. Anfernee Simons: 32.3%

10. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 32.6%

Tyrese Maxey, Trae Young, and Paul George are not names you’d expect to see top a list of the worst shooters in the NBA. Donte DiVincenzo is another surprise, as he shot 40.1% from three last season. All of these four are considered good to great shooters and it’ll be interesting to see if they climb much higher as the season goes on.

Most 3-Pointers Attempted – We next take a look at the players most responsible for this 2024-25 season having the highest average of three-pointers attempted in NBA history.

1. LaMelo Ball: 13.1 per game

2. Brandon Miller: 11.0 per game

3. Jayson Tatum: 10.5 per game

4. Anthony Edwards: 10.5 per game

5. Luka Doncic: 10.1 per game

6. Stephen Curry: 10.0 per game

7. Tyler Herro: 9.9 per game

8. Tyrese Maxey: 9.4 per game

9. Damian Lillard: 9.3 per game

10. Derrick White: 9.1 per game

LaMelo Ball is well clear of the pack here but that might not necessarily be a good thing as he is shooting just 35.6% from beyond the arc. His Charlotte Hornets teammate Brandon Miller is second and has shot marginally better at 36.5%.

The man with the best shooting percentage in this top 10 is interestingly Anthony Edwards at 42.7%. Tyler Herro is not far off from the top spot, though, as he is at 42.4%. As for the worst, it is unsurprisingly Maxey. He might want to bring down those attempts with how poorly he is shooting at the moment.

Most 3-Pointers Made – From the most attempts, we now get to the most makes.

1. LaMelo Ball: 4.7 per game

2. Anthony Edwards: 4.5 per game

3. Tyler Herro: 4.2 per game

4. Stephen Curry: 4.2 per game

5. Brandon Miller: 4.0 per game

6. Norman Powell: 3.8 per game

7. Jayson Tatum: 3.8 per game

8. Donovan Mitchell: 3.8 per game

9. Payton Pritchard: 3.7 per game

10. Malik Beasley: 3.7 per game

Ball being at the top is hardly a surprise with how many threes he has been putting up. Curry being down at fourth is a surprise considering how he’s been at the top of these lists forever at this point. He has some catching up to do and I do think he will eventually get close to the top spot at the very least.
