The New York Knicks have made some shrewd moves to improve their team and are reaping the rewards, sitting in the 5th seed spot in the Eastern Conference.

But they still don’t have a bonafide superstar on their team, with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle both closer to being premium second stars. Brian Windhorst believes the New York Knicks could make a splash in the offseason, though, and trade for not one but two NBA stars.

“Here’s what I think about the Knicks,” Brian Windhorst said on his podcast. “They have two handfuls of trade material, in my opinion. They can make, in my opinion, two big trades if they had to coming into this summer.

“In my view, they can trade for two star-level players if they needed to. It doesn’t mean they’d have to do those deals in the summer of ’23. Those deals can be made within the 23-24 season, they can be in ’24. But they can hold in my opinion, they can hold Jalen Brunson, they can hold Julius Randle, and they can make two want trades.”

The New York Knicks have a wealth of first-round picks to trade that they held on to instead of moving for Donovan Mitchell last summer. With more than 7 first-round picks at their disposal as well as a lot of young talent and RJ Barrett, the Knicks could make moves for more than one star quite easily.

What NBA Stars Could The Knicks Target In A Trade This Summer?

The superstar that every NBA team potentially would like to land is Damian Lillard. While Lillard’s loyalty to the Portland Trail Blazers is legendary, the team choosing to rebuild could force his hand. The Knicks would love to have someone like Dame, and a backcourt with him and Brunson could be terrifying.

Zach LaVine is another option for the New York Knicks, he has already been linked with a move to the Knicks. An elite scorer and excellent shooter, LaVine thinks he’s a pretty good defender as well. The Bulls don’t look like a contender, and it could be an option.

Lastly, the team could also go for Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns. The gamble to get Rudy Gobert hasn’t exactly worked wonders, and Anthony Edwards has become the main man in Minnesota. KAT could be a gettable option for the Knicks. Who they end up getting, if anyone, will be interesting to see, but it promises to be an exciting offseason for Knicks fans.
